Spike Lee Debuts ‘Oldboy’ Red Band Trailer

Just how many times is this story going to get retold? Spike Lee is the latest director to put out his own spin of the story of a man trapped in solitary confinement for 20 years, then released with a score to settle. Chan-wook Park gave his take with the South Korean version Oldeuboi, in 2003 and before that there was the Japanese series penned by Garon Tsuchiya.

Still, the American-ized version with a panicked Josh Brolin and Samuel L. Jackson looks like it might be some of Spike Lee’s best work in the last 10 years. Expect the bloody hammer vengeance to start in October 2013.
