Ah ha! It turns out that Robert Kirman had been ripping off Pixar all along! What do you have to say now AMC?! Okay, maybe that's jumping the gun a bit, but Reddit user JimmyLegs50 has made a pretty strong argument that The Walking Dead storyline is loosely based on the Toy Story series. Hero sheriffs, trigger happy anti-heroes, old men with white beards and of course a prison/daycare. The only thing missing really is a moody black girl with a samurai sword.
The evidence is overwhelming, but go ahead and draw your own conclusions...
