Justin Bieber will NOT be fined or sued for his controversial late-running show in London’s O2 Arena on Monday (March 4), This is London reports. Despite running over time, Bieber’s gig didn’t break any local laws saving him from a reported $300,000 fine. The Bieb was late coming on stage which forced many of his teenage fan base to leave early as it was a school night.
Bieber was due to take the stage at 8:30 p.m. after support acts: Jaden Smith, Cody Simpson and Carly Rae Jespen. But the Canadian crooner didn’t make an appearance until nearly 10:30 p.m. London’s Evening Standard reported that, fans, who had queued since 6:30 p.m., loudly booed toward the stage while the P.A. played Michael Jackson songs.
It had been rumored that Bieber would face a fine for the show running over but this has since been discredited by the local government, a Grenwich Council spokesperson said:
The Royal Borough of Greenwich has not taken any action against the owners of The O2 in relation to Justin Bieber’s recent performance, as no breach of our licensing conditions took place.
It is simply a contractual issue between AEG and the artist involved, as there is no requirement for performances to finish by 11pm.
The O2 is the world’s most popular entertainment venue and sells over two million tickets each and every year as it plays host to many of the world’s biggest names.
We take any complaints made in relation to the venue very seriously, but it is an urban myth to suggest that we have ever levied a fine in relation to a performance there.
