Chris Pratt to Play Star-Lord in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Film

Actor Chris Pratt has been prepped to play the character Star-Lord aka Peter Quill in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie adaptation. Marvel Studio's upcoming space superhero film is being directed by James Gunn.

Pratt has appeared in the films Moneyball, Zero Dark Thirty, plus the TV show Parks and Recreation.

Deadspin reported that Marvel Studios made "test lead actor" deals with actors such as Joel Edgerton, Jack Huston, Jim Sturgess, Lee Pace and Eddie Redmayne.

Zachary Levi was also identified as a candidate for the role. Joseph Gordon-Levitt was another name that was considered for the role.

"Guardians of the Galaxy" is based on the Marvel Comics franchise, which features a planetary team of unlikely heroes who must face intergalactic villains. Star-Lord is the leader of the Guardians, who is also the child of an alien father and a human mother.
