SNL vets Abby Elliot and David Koechner are hitting the open road along with Owen Benjamin this month as part of the AXE Hair's Splitting Hairs Comedy Tour. The tour will make stops in various cities and bring some hilarity to the battle of the sexes. Get the lowdown on what you need to know about this comedy trifecta roadshow.
1. It Kicks Off with the New York Comedy Festival
The country's biggest comedy festival kicked off on November 7th bringing in the likes of Ricky Gervais, Brian Regan and Kevin Hart. On November 9th the festival will welcome the AXE Hair's Splitting Hairs Comedy Tour in conjunction with Comedy Central. If you're going to launch a tour with the powerhouse talent of David Koechner, Abbey Elliot and Owen Benjamin, you might as well do it in the comedy capital of the world - New York City.
2. It's Probably the Most Fun You'll Ever Have with a Hair Product
...Assuming you only use your hair products for hair purposes. When you think "fun" hair gel probably doesn't come to mind, but when you pair hair products with comedy, fun is a guarantee. Look at it this way, you throw some AXE hair gel in that mop on your head, grab your girl and head to the comedy show where you may just get some free product while your laughing your ass off. Boom! Hair gel + comedy = fun.
3. It's a War of the Sexes
Men and women don't often see eye to eye, especially when it comes to grooming habits. This is where the AXE Hair's Splitting Hairs Comedy Tour bridges the divide. Comics of both sexes will provide girl/guy perspectives on the importance of first impressions and the different ways that girls and guys think with David Koechner acting as moderator.
4. You Might Just Get Laid Because of It
A recent survey conducted by AXE Hair found that 73 percent of girls listed hair as one of the first things they notice about a guy (depressing, we know). However, it's also a well known fact that humor is an aphrodisiac. Thus, by bringing your girl to a laughing fit AND getting some tips on managing the wookie you call hair, you might just get her in the mood.
5. It Stars Abby Elliot...
If you're going to have a comedy tour highlighting the battle of the sexes, you'd better have a female who knows what the hell she's talking about. Enter Abby Elliot. Daughter of SNL alum Chris Elliot and a former cast member herself, Abbey will be fighting for the girls in the comedy show.
6. And Owen Benjamin...
A series regular on the TBS series Sullivan & Son, Owen Benjamin has appeared on The Tonight Show, Comedy Central Presents and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Expect biting stand-up and from Owen Benjamin and maybe a song or two.
7. And David Koechner...
The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Anchorman, Snakes on a Plane, Talledega Nights, Get Smart, Saturday Night Live... should we go on? The man is one of the most underatted and hilarious comedy actors working today. You'd have to be a fool to pass on the chance to see this guy working his craft on a live stage.
8. It's Coming to College Cities Across the U.S.
College kids don't always have a lot of money and budget conscious entertainment is always a plus. The producers of the tour surveyed 1,000 guys and girls, aged 18-24 years old on hair vs. attraction and will be taking their findings to comedy clubs in the following cities:
Pittsburgh, PA on November 12 at 8:00 p.m. – Pittsburgh Improv Comedy Club
Cincinnati, OH on November 13 at 8:00 p.m. – Levee Funny Bone Comedy Club
Louisville, KY on November 14 at 8:00 p.m. – Louisville Improv Comedy Club
Nashville, TN on November 15 at 8:00 p.m. – Zanies Comedy Club
Columbia, SC on November 16 at 8:00 p.m. – The Comedy Zone
9. What Does "Splitting Hairs" Even Mean?
Why call this tour the Splitting Hairs Comedy Tour to begin with? Well, since the idiom "splitting hairs" means to argue about non-distinct petty details, which often is the case with the battle of the sexes and it's also sponsored by a hair gel company. Hence, "splitting hairs" works perfectly. Marketing genius!
10. It's a Once in a Lifetime Event
It's the first AXE comedy tour tackling this "serious" issue of hair and sexual attraction. It also may very well be your one and only chance to see all three of these comedy minds in the same room. It would be a damn shame if you missed out on an epic event like this. Get tickets for the shows here.
