Not since Hulk Hogan took on The Ultimate Warrior at WresteMania VI has there been a match-up as great as O'Reilly vs. Stewart. It's got all the great drama and antics of any wrestling match, just less spandex and fewer folding chairs.
The two media juggernauts took to the stage of George Washington University's Lisner Auditorium on Saturday night to lay the smackdown on a discussion over the state of the union.
The frenemies arrived in Washington ready to engage in a serious battle of wits and knowledge, but being that this is Stewart and O'Reilly, an element of humor is of course going to be present. Like the banner hanging overhead that read, "Yum, this sign taste like freedom."
The event was attended by over 1,500 people and fans of the media personalities had the option of streaming it for $4.95. Or just wait a day and watch it on YouTube.
The 90 minute debate saw the Stewart and O'Reilly tangle toe-to-toe over everything from birth control, to the 47%, to the "war on Christmas", drawing up arguments that go back a decade.
O'Reilly supporters are going to argue he kicked Stewart's ass and Stewart fans are going to argue O'Reilly didn't know jack squat. In the end, we all got a nice tour up "bullsh*t mountain."
