Wait, is this another ad about a mentally challenged guy? Stop toying with me, McDonald’s!
Regrettably, some jerk on youtube already made the best possible observation about this ad, forcing me to copy and paste it here and hate them forever:
“Stupid kids. Could've gotten that meal for free from the hamburger patch and the french-fry bushes … but no, you had to go inside and pay for it.”
Whereas Japan can grave-rob our culture into something 16-year-olds might call “avant-garde” or “chic,” Australia makes it look about as toothsome as Joe Pesci trying to rap, minus the irony value.
This might have the primitive beginnings of a joke if fast food marketers didn’t belong to the same effete upper class it satirizes. As its stands, this is like Tiger Woods getting paid to do an ad criticizing Tiger Woods.
Slipknot sued the makers of this ad for supposedly trying to “conjure up the image and persona of a live performance of Slipknot,” which makes me feel bad for the Slipknot guys – if this is the trademark image associated with your band, then your band is in some pretty dire straits.
