Pop culture: it moves so fast, it can put your eye out. And for an old dude like myself, who remembers grunge music and when Heroes was good, it can be hard to keep track of what's going on. So I turned to the younger generation - in this case, my seven year old niece Adelaide. Every two weeks, I'm going to show her a picture of some pop culture movers and shakers and have me tell her about them. This installment: the cast of Jersey Shore.
"These people are professional dancers. They come from Hollywood. They go to lots of fancy parties. They do street dances. Street dances are things like you do, like you dance on the sidewalk.
Other people think their dancing is good and fun.
They are close friends. I think they're nice. They love their dancing thing. I think the story of their dance would be about rock stars.
I think one's name is Jerill. One's name Susan. That girl should be named Stephanie. That one's name is Amy, like my teacher.
That guy's named "Chris Rock". That guy's named "Kevin". That guy should be named "Rocky". That one should be named "Ipod". That's the only name I got!
They have sleepovers when they're not dancing. All of the dancers decided that the boys should be together. I do not want to talk about why that girl has a hole in her pants. They all like to dance with each other.
The boys lay down, then the girls walk around and they do THIS thing.
I wouldn't dress like that until I'm a teenager ... I mean, no, they look like they're going to do something that only they know how to do.
They perform in a lot of clubs. I think they drink milk because the club is for drinking milk. They look like people who know how to drink milk. It looks like they have strong bones. I can kind of see their bones. It would be so gross if you could really see their bones that I'd have to go somewhere else. I would be so scared of skeletons walking around in the city. "
