Pilots Caused Air France 447 Crash that Killed 228

A crash that killed 228 people in 2009 was caused in large part by pilot error, according to a just-released report.

Air France was traveling from Rio de Janeiro to Paris on June 1, 2009, when it crashed into the Atlantic. Before their demise, passengers suffered a terrifying three-and-a-half-minute plunge from the sky.

According to the new report, while the pilots failed to act properly, they were misled by erroneous data from faulty sensors.

It's the second high-profile chunk of aviation news this week after a judge ruled that Clayton Frederick Osbon, the JetBlue pilot who had an epic meltdown in March, was too insane to be blamed for his episode.
