Man Live Blogs His Suicide on Facebook from Bangkok

A man who killed himself with a glass of poison-laced beer yesterday live-blogged the suicide on his Facebook page, according to cops in Thailand.

Spaniard Juan Andres Medin Pineiro, who would have turned 37 today, emailed his boss in the telecom industry to submit his resignation 30 minutes before the suicide, according to the Daily Mail.

Bangkok Post describes the scene:

He was found dead in his room on the 11th floor, sitting in front of a laptop, a glass and a bottle of beer.

The Telegraph details the drink that did him in:

"His friends alerted us after he posted a photo of a glass full of some kind of drug," Lieutenant Colonel Apichan Sawasdibud, who is leading the probe into the death, told AFP. "His friend's sister, who is a pharmacist, warned them that it was a dangerous drug that could cause death."

It's the latest in a string of suicide stories in which Facebook played a part.

This follows a double-murder-suicide in Canada this week that was linked to a Facebook manifesto by a scorned father distraught over a custody dispute.

And last week, a father's triple-murder-suicide in Oregon was preceded by a Facebook post warning of his desperate state:

Facebook is aware that its role as a vehicle for expression means it will host dire messages. It even posts guidelines in its help center titled "How do I help someone who has posted suicidal content on the site?" — complete with a submission form:
